Long-time Mercy supporter Ken Mansfield recently released a new book Rock and a Heart Place: A Rock ‘n’ Roller-Coaster Ride from Rebellion to Sweet Salvation and has pledged a tithe from the book’s proceeds to benefit Mercy.
Co-authored by best-selling biographer Marshall Terrill, Rock and a Heart Place is Mansfield’s fifth book and features the never-before-heard secrets, stories, and spiritual testimonies of several of rock music’s greatest legends, including members of Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Collective Soul, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Grand Funk Railroad, Kansas, Korn, Ozzy Osbourne, Pointer Sisters, Prince, The Ronettes, and The Turtles.

Ken is the former U.S. manager of the Beatles’ Apple Record Company and a Grammy Award-winning record producer. He is now an ordained minister and sought-after public speaker who appears at churches, special events, and colleges across the nation. Ken and his wife Connie have visited the U.S. Mercy homes as guest speakers on several occasions, encouraging the residents and sharing stories from their faith journey.
In Mansfield’s book, he writes about some of what he calls the “most fascinating musicians and entertainers on the planet” and their stories of surviving the highs and lows of being in the music industry. He writes, “One of the reasons it is hard for them to share their stories is because in order to tell the reader how blessed they are now, they have to deliver the contrast of their past in order to have it make any sense.”

Because of the work we do at Mercy to help hurting young women, we see every day how God intervenes miraculously in the lives of broken people and helps them discover they are not defined by the past. This book shows how God can redeem and restore the most unlikely characters in the most unlikely places and give them a hope and a future.
Rock and a Heart Place is available for purchase through Broadstreet Publishing at Amazon.com and BN.c om.
