“We can tell the enemy to shut his lying mouth because IT IS WRITTEN!” exclaimed Melanie Carter, Mercy Multiplied Director of Outreach, in the “Renewing Your Mind” session of Mercy’s first-ever Freedom Experience held October 2-3 at Christ Church.

Carter joined Mercy Founder and President Nancy Alcorn and several other top Mercy leaders to present to almost 500 people the seven biblically based keys to freedom that Mercy teaches in its homes. The keys include: committing fully to Christ; choosing to forgive; renewing your mind; breaking generational patterns; healing life’s hurts; conquering oppression; and learning principles of lifelong success.

With high anticipation, guests traveled from as far away as Singapore to attend the Freedom Experience, the first live event of its kind in Mercy’s 32 year history. A powerful tone was set during the opening session Friday night when over 40 people committed their lives to Christ at Alcorn’s invitation. High engagement continued throughout the two-day event, including several standing ovations for Alcorn and the other Mercy speakers and guest worship leaders Point of Grace, Michael Passons, and Ellie Holcomb. Attendees also showed great interest and stood in line for Mercy’s new Ditch the Baggage resources at the on-site Marketplace.

The Freedom Experience and Alcorn’s newly released book Ditch the Baggage and supplemental leader and study guides are a part of a larger outreach initiative Mercy has rolled out with its recent rebrand from Mercy Ministries to Mercy Multiplied. Mercy’s goal is to take its impact further, expanding its successful residential program to more locations while reaching even more people outside of its homes through its new conferences, workshops, studies and curriculum.

Mercy believes anyone struggling with the everyday bad habit to the most traumatic situations can gain the tools and perspective necessary to permanently stop destructive cycles and find freedom. “Our desire is for everyone to experience true and lasting freedom,” Carter said.
